About the Nikon D40
Announced in November 2006, the Nikon D40 is a compact 6.1MP DX-format DSLR using the Nikon F mount. It was the first Nikon DSLR without an in-body focus motor, so only AF-S/AF-P lenses autofocus on it.
What affects the price
- Shutter count on DSLRs and mirrorless bodies (look it up from a photo’s EXIF data). Low counts sell for more.
- Sensor dust, dead pixels and scratches or pressure marks on the screen.
- The battery and charger: without them, buyers can’t test it and pay less.
- Cosmetic wear on grips and corners, and whether every button and dial works.
