Poshmark, Mercari, Depop and Vinted issue their own prepaid labels, so you can’t pick USPS services there. Here’s what each one charges for this package, where they publish it.
Poshmark
$6.49
Standard label, up to 5 lb: buyer pays $6.49, you pay $0.00. USPS Ground Advantage, 2–5 days.
One flat USPS Ground Advantage label for up to 5 lb, any distance. Over 5 lb you buy a heavier-weight label: $5 more up to 10 lb, $10 more up to 15 lb.
Who pays: Buyer pays the $6.49 label; you pay any upgrade and any shipping discount you offer.
Mercari
Flat nationwide prices by weight class and carrier (USPS, UPS, FedEx). Packages up to 1 cu ft with no side over 22″ get the cheaper “Best rate”. Mercari changes label prices on October 19, 2026.
Who pays: You choose buyer-paid or seller-paid when you list.
Depop
Depop Shipping (US) uses USPS. You pick a parcel size when you list, and that sets what the buyer pays. Depop shows the price for each size in the listing flow.
Who pays: Buyer pays the price set by the parcel size you pick.
eBay
eBay labels are discounted USPS, UPS and FedEx rates that eBay doesn’t publish as a table. Use calculated shipping so the buyer pays by distance.
Who pays: You set the shipping charge (flat, calculated or free) and buy the label.
Etsy
Etsy Labels are discounted USPS, UPS and FedEx rates bought in your shop; Etsy shows the price when you buy.
Who pays: You set shipping prices (or calculated shipping) and buy the label.
Vinted
Vinted US ships with prepaid USPS labels (a QR code at the post office, or a home pick-up). The rate depends on package size and both locations, and the buyer sees it at checkout.
Who pays: Buyer pays shipping.
How USPS prices a package
Four things decide what a USPS label costs: weight, size, distance (the zone) and the service.
- Weight. Ground Advantage prices 4, 8, 12 and 15.999 oz, then every pound up to 70 lb. Since July 12, 2026 the commercial price is the same for anything from 4 oz to 15.999 oz. Priority Mail and Media Mail are per pound. Any fraction rounds up.
- Size. Over 1 cubic foot you pay dimensional weight if it’s higher. Over 22″ long adds a nonstandard fee, and so does anything over 2 cubic feet.
- Zone. Zones 1–8 by distance from you to the buyer. Flat Rate and Media Mail cost the same to every zone.
- Cubic. For small, heavy packages, pricing by size (cubic) can beat pricing by weight. The calculator checks both.
Ground Advantage, Priority Mail or Media Mail?
Ground Advantage (2–5 days, $100 insurance included) is the default for resellers and usually the cheapest. Priority Mail (2–3 days) rarely wins on price by weight, but its Flat Rate Envelopes and Boxes can for heavy items going far. Media Mail (2–8 days) is the cheapest way to ship books, CDs, DVDs and vinyl, and nothing else: USPS can open it to check.
Selling on Poshmark? The buyer pays a flat label and you don’t choose the service; see the Poshmark shipping calculator.
How to pay less for shipping
Stay under 1 lb when you can
Ground Advantage costs the same from 4 oz to 15.999 oz at commercial prices, then jumps at 1 lb and every pound after. Shave the extra bag or card that tips a package over.
Use the smallest mailer that closes
Cubic pricing charges by size. A heavy bundle in a snug 10×13 mailer can cost several dollars less than by weight.
Avoid boxes over 1 cubic foot
Past 1,728 in³ USPS bills dimensional weight (L × W × H ÷ 139). A sweater in a big box can bill at 15 lb.
Try a flat rate envelope for dense, heavy items going far
The $11.12 envelope ships any weight anywhere. It beats multi-pound Ground Advantage labels to zones 7–8.
Never buy at the counter
Post Office retail prices are higher than the commercial prices you get online ($7.90 vs $6.93 for the lightest zone 1 Ground Advantage label).
Keep it under 22″ long
Longer parcels pick up a $4.50+ nonstandard fee. Fold coats and long items to stay at or under 22″.

What is the cheapest way to ship a package with USPS?+
For most reseller packages under a few pounds it is USPS Ground Advantage bought online at commercial prices. Heavy items in a small mailer are often cheaper with Ground Advantage cubic pricing, dense items going cross-country can be cheaper in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope, and books and media are cheapest by Media Mail. The calculator above prices all of them for your package and sorts them.
How much does it cost to ship a 1 lb package?+
At USPS commercial prices effective July 12, 2026, a 1 lb Ground Advantage package costs $7.61 to zone 1 and $10.67 to zone 8. Anything from 4 oz up to 15.999 oz costs $6.93 to $8.40, so staying under 1 lb saves up to $2.27.
What is a USPS zone and how do I find mine?+
Zones measure how far a package travels, from zone 1 (local) to zone 8 (cross-country); zone 9 covers US territories. Enter your ZIP and the buyer’s ZIP above and we ask USPS’s own zone lookup, or use the USPS zone chart at postcalc.usps.com. If you don’t know the buyer yet, each price shows the range across zones 1–8.
When does dimensional weight apply?+
Only when a parcel is bigger than 1 cubic foot (1,728 cubic inches). USPS rounds each side up to the whole inch, multiplies length × width × height and divides by 139, rounding up, and charges the higher of that and the actual weight. Poly mailers almost never hit it; big boxes with light items do.
What is cubic pricing?+
A commercial USPS price based on package size instead of weight, for packages up to 20 lb with no side over 22 inches. Ground Advantage cubic goes up to 1 cubic foot in ten tiers and Priority Mail cubic to 0.5 cubic foot. Poly mailers are tiered by length + width. It is sold through label services (PC Postage) that offer it, not at the Post Office.
Are these the prices eBay, Poshmark or Pirate Ship charge?+
They are USPS’s published commercial prices. Marketplaces and label services with negotiated rates can charge less, and each one shows its own price when you buy. Poshmark publishes its label prices, so we show those exactly; Mercari, Depop, eBay, Etsy and Vinted price labels in their own tools, so we link to them.
