About the Pyrex Primary Colors 403 Green Mixing Bowl
Primary Colors, introduced in the 1940s, was Pyrex’s first multi-colored nesting bowl set: 401 blue, 402 red, 403 green and 404 yellow. The 403 is the 2.5-quart bowl, about 8.5 inches across. Dishwasher detergent dulls and fades the fired-on color, so glossy, unscratched pieces with strong color are worth the most.
What affects the price
- Colour strength and gloss. Dishwasher detergent dulls and fades the paint, which is the biggest price factor.
- Chips, cracks and utensil marks (grey scratches) inside the bowl.
- Rare colourways and complete, matching sets sell for more than single bowls.
- Reproductions and newer pieces exist; check the backstamp.
