About the Apple iPod Nano 1st Generation
The first iPod Nano launched in September 2005 in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB versions, with a 1.5-inch color screen and a Click Wheel. In 2011 Apple ran a replacement program for first-generation Nanos whose batteries could overheat. Check the screen for scratches and the battery for swelling or short runtime.
What affects the price
- Battery life, and for hard-drive models a drive that spins up without clicking.
- Scratches on the screen and polished back, dents and a click wheel that responds everywhere.
- Original, unmodified units: flash-storage upgrades are priced separately and left out of this guide.
- Capacity and generation. Check the model number (A-number) on the back.
