About the Minolta X-700
The X-700 (1981) added Minolta’s full Program mode to aperture priority and manual, won European Camera of the Year in 1982, and stayed in production until 1999. It takes Minolta SR (MD/MC) manual-focus lenses and is fully battery-dependent, running on two LR44/SR44 cells.
What affects the price
- Whether the shutter fires at every speed. Slow speeds that drag or a shutter that sticks cut the value sharply.
- Light seals and the mirror bumper: sticky or crumbling foam causes light leaks. Cheap to fix, but buyers price it in.
