Depop looks like a social app because it mostly works like one: buyers scroll a feed, follow shops and search by vibe as much as by brand. That changes how you photograph, write and price. eBay completed its acquisition of Depop on July 30, 2026, but Depop still runs under its own brand, app and fee structure, so everything below applies as of September 2026.
Depop fees in the US and UK
| Fee | US | UK |
|---|---|---|
| Selling fee | $0 (removed July 2024) | £0 (removed March 2024) |
| Payment processing | 3.3% + $0.45 on item + shipping + tax | 2.9% + £0.30 on item + shipping |
| Boosted listing (optional) | 12% of item price | 12% of item price |
| Buyer Marketplace fee | Paid by the buyer, up to 5% of the item price + up to $1/£1 — not deducted from you | |
Depop’s help center also says fees, including boost fees, are reversed if a sale is refunded, and that processing is charged once per bundle rather than per item. Sellers outside the US, UK and Australia still pay a 10% selling fee.
Worked example (US)
A $30 vintage tee, buyer pays $6 shipping, ignore tax for simplicity:
- Processing: 3.3% × $36 + $0.45 = $1.64. You keep $28.36 of the $30.
- Same sale through a boost: add 12% × $30 = $3.60, so fees are $5.24 and you keep $24.76.
- With 8% sales tax on the $36, processing rises to about $1.73 — Depop charges processing on the tax the buyer pays, too.
In the UK, a £25 item with £3 shipping costs 2.9% × £28 + £0.30 = £1.11, so you keep £23.89. Compare that with other platforms in our fee comparison.
Listing: photos and the Depop aesthetic
On Depop the photo is the listing. Buyers decide from a grid of tiles, and many never read the description. What works, from sellers who do volume there:
- Show it worn. On-body or on a mannequin beats flat lays for most clothing, because buyers are shopping for how it looks, not just what it is. Crop your face out if you prefer.
- Keep a consistent look. Same wall, same light, same framing across your shop. A cohesive grid reads as a curated store, which is why people follow shops.
- Frame for the tile. Keep the item centered with some space around it so it still reads when the grid crops the cover photo.
- Use every slot for detail. Tag, fabric, any flaws, and a measurement shot (see our measuring guide). Depop’s listing page allows up to eight photos on the web and a video from the app, and it bans stock images.
For the text: fill in brand, category, condition, size, up to two colors and style, because those drive Depop’s filters. Depop allows up to five hashtags — use real search terms (“y2k”, “grunge”, “carhartt”) rather than filler. Descriptions should lead with era, fit and measurements, and one line on condition.
Price like Depop, not like eBay
Depop buyers expect to negotiate and bundle. Price a little above your target, answer messages quickly, and set a shipping discount on bundles. In the US app you can offer $2, $3 or $4 off shipping, or free shipping.Boosting: when it pays
Boosted listings get higher placement in search; Depop says boosting is the only paid way to rank. You can boost single listings in bulk or turn on “Boost shop”, which boosts everything including new listings. The fee is 12% of the item price in the US and UK (plus shipping if you didn’t use a Depop label), and you only pay if the buyer viewed, clicked or liked the boosted tile and then bought within 28 days. Unboosting doesn’t end that window for people who already saw the boost.
Our take: boost the listings where visibility is the bottleneck — good photos, fair price, few views — and leave off the ones that already sell organically. Boosting the whole shop means paying 12% on sales that would have happened anyway. Also note that boost fees stack on processing, so on a $15 item the boost is the biggest fee you pay.
Shipping on Depop
US: Depop Shipping with USPS
When you list, you choose a parcel size and that sets the shipping price the buyer pays. After a sale, Depop emails a USPS QR code you can show at the post office — they print the label for you — plus a printable label if you’d rather print at home. Tracking uploads automatically. Two rules to know:
- Orders not shipped within 10 days are cancelled automatically.
- If the listing uses Depop Shipping and you ship with a different label, you lose Seller Protection on that order.
Bundles get one label sized by combined weight. The alternative is “Other”, where you set your own price, buy your own tracked label and add the tracking number yourself. If you print on a thermal printer and the PDF comes out full-page, our Depop 4×6 label page has the settings and a free cropper.
UK: Evri
Depop Shipping in the UK uses Evri, with a QR code to drop off at a ParcelShop or a label to print. Evri’s limits on Depop are 15 kg and 120 cm long, and mainland UK only.
Getting paid
US sellers are paid through Depop Payments: money reaches your Depop Balance two business days after delivery or ten business days after the sale, whichever comes first. Withdrawing to your bank can take up to five days. UK payouts go to your bank automatically on the same schedule when you use Depop’s Evri shipping; manual shipping waits ten business days after delivery.
What sells on Depop
Experience, not Depop data: Depop’s buyers skew young and trend-driven. Consistently strong: Y2K and 2000s pieces, vintage band and graphic tees, streetwear brands, workwear (Carhartt, Dickies), vintage denim, going-out tops, and anything tied to a current trend. Weak: plain mall basics, formal office wear and anything that looks dated rather than vintage. If an item sells on eBay because someone searches its exact model number, it usually belongs on eBay instead.
Common mistakes
- Flat, dark photos. What passes on eBay looks lifeless in a Depop feed.
- Boosting everything. You pay 12% on sales you’d have made anyway.
- Choosing too small a parcel size. Pick the size that actually fits the item and packaging; underestimating to show cheaper shipping can leave you with a label that doesn’t cover it.
- Using your own label on a Depop Shipping order. It voids Seller Protection.
- Hashtag stuffing. Five relevant terms beat five random ones; irrelevant tags don’t help you be found for the searches that convert.
- Slow replies. Buyers message before they buy. A reply the next day often means the sale went to another shop.

FAQ
How much does Depop take from a sale in 2026?
In the US and UK Depop charges no selling fee. You pay payment processing on the whole transaction (item, shipping and tax): 3.3% + $0.45 in the US and 2.9% + £0.30 in the UK. On a $30 item with $6 shipping and no tax that is about $1.64. If the sale came from a Boosted listing, add 12% of the item price. Buyers pay a separate Marketplace fee that does not come out of your payout.
Is Depop boosting worth it?
It can be for items that are priced right but not being seen: boosted listings rank higher in search and you pay only if a buyer interacted with the boosted tile and then buys within 28 days. At 12% of the item price in the US and UK, though, it roughly quadruples your fees on a typical sale, so boost selectively rather than boosting your whole shop.
How does Depop shipping work in the US?
With Depop Shipping you pick a parcel size when you list, the buyer pays that shipping, and after the sale Depop emails you a USPS QR code you can show at the post office plus a printable label. Tracking uploads automatically. You must ship within 10 days or the order is cancelled, and if you chose Depop Shipping you need to use Depop’s label to keep Seller Protection.
When do I get paid on Depop?
In the US, funds move to your Depop Balance two business days after delivery or ten business days after the sale, whichever comes first, and you withdraw to your bank, which can take up to five days. In the UK payouts go to your bank automatically on a similar schedule when you ship with Depop’s Evri label.
Did eBay buy Depop?
Yes. eBay agreed to buy Depop from Etsy in early 2026 and completed the acquisition on July 30, 2026. Depop says it continues to operate under its own brand and app.
