About the Nikon FE2
The FE2 (1983) updated the FE with a 1/4000 sec shutter, 1/250 sec flash sync and TTL flash metering, keeping aperture-priority and manual modes. It takes Nikon F-mount lenses and two LR44 cells.
What affects the price
- Whether the shutter fires at every speed. Slow speeds that drag or a shutter that sticks cut the value sharply.
- Light seals and the mirror bumper: sticky or crumbling foam causes light leaks. Cheap to fix, but buyers price it in.
- Battery compartment corrosion and whether the light meter still reads.
- Viewfinder and prism: haze, fungus or de-silvering (dark bands) in the finder.
- Film-tested listings, with sample photos, sell for more than “untested”.
