About the Olympus OM-2
The OM-2 (1975) added aperture-priority automation to the compact OM-1 body and was the first camera to meter light directly off the film during exposure. The OM-2n (1979) is priced together here; the redesigned OM-2 Spot/Program is not. It takes Olympus OM-mount lenses.
What affects the price
- Whether the shutter fires at every speed. Slow speeds that drag or a shutter that sticks cut the value sharply.
- Light seals and the mirror bumper: sticky or crumbling foam causes light leaks. Cheap to fix, but buyers price it in.
- Battery compartment corrosion and whether the light meter still reads.
- Viewfinder and prism: haze, fungus or de-silvering (dark bands) in the finder.
- Film-tested listings, with sample photos, sell for more than “untested”.
