About the Leica CL
The Leica CL appeared in 1973 and was built by Minolta in Osaka; it was also sold as the Leitz Minolta CL. It is a compact M-mount rangefinder whose standard lens was the Summicron-C 40mm f/2. The 2017 digital Leica CL is a different camera and is excluded.
What affects the price
- Rangefinder alignment: the double image should merge cleanly at infinity and close up.
- Whether the shutter fires at every speed. Slow speeds that drag or a shutter that sticks cut the value sharply.
- Light seals and the mirror bumper: sticky or crumbling foam causes light leaks. Cheap to fix, but buyers price it in.
