About the Sony Walkman WM-EX

Sony’s WM-EX series covers later-generation cassette Walkmans from the 1990s and 2000s. Check that the tape plays at a steady speed and that the battery contacts are clean.

What affects the price

  • Whether it plays at the right speed. Old drive belts stretch; a recently replaced belt adds value.
  • Battery compartment corrosion and a working headphone jack.
  • Clean, working auto-reverse, radio and recording (on models that have them).
  • Cosmetic condition matters a lot for collectible Walkmans.
