About the Zenit-E
The Soviet Zenit-E is a heavy, tough mechanical SLR, and over 12 million were made including its variants. It has an M42 screw mount and an uncoupled selenium light meter that needs no battery.
What affects the price
- Whether the shutter fires at every speed. Slow speeds that drag or a shutter that sticks cut the value sharply.
- Light seals and the mirror bumper: sticky or crumbling foam causes light leaks. Cheap to fix, but buyers price it in.
